Capmide contains Capecitabine, which is a chemotherapy medicine.
It is an oral drug (tablet) that works as a prodrug of 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU). This means it changes into 5-FU inside the body to kill cancer cells.
Mechanism
-
After swallowing, Capecitabine is changed by the body (especially inside tumor cells) into 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU).
-
5-FU blocks the making of DNA and RNA in cancer cells.
-
This prevents cancer cells from dividing and growing, leading to their death.
