Axinamo contains Axitinib, an oral tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) used primarily for the treatment of advanced or metastatic renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer). Axinamo works by inhibiting vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFRs), which play a key role in tumor blood vessel formation (angiogenesis). This helps slow tumor growth and spread.

Mechanism of Action

• Axitinib selectively inhibits VEGFR-1, VEGFR-2, and VEGFR-3, blocking signals that promote angiogenesis.

• By inhibiting blood vessel formation, it reduces tumor vascularization, limiting oxygen and nutrient supply to cancer cells.

• This leads to slowed tumor growth and metastasis in patients with kidney cancer.

  Uses

  • Treatment of advanced or metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC).

  • Used in patients who have failed prior systemic therapy for RCC.

  • Sometimes used in combination with immunotherapy or other targeted therapies for enhanced efficacy.

    Adverse Effects

    • High blood pressure (hypertension)

    • Fatigue or weakness

    • Diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting

    • Hand-foot syndrome (redness or pain in hands/feet)
