Foiri 100 is a cancer medicine. It contains irinotecan and comes as an injection that is given into a vein by a doctor or nurse. It is mainly used to treat cancers of the colon and rectum (parts of the large intestine) when the cancer is advanced or has returned after treatment.

Mechanism

Foiri 100 works by blocking an enzyme called topoisomerase I. This enzyme helps cells copy and grow. By stopping this enzyme, Foiri slows down or stops the growth of cancer cells and helps kill them.

Uses

Doctors use Foiri 100 to treat:

• Advanced or metastatic colon cancer

• Advanced or metastatic rectal cancer

• Colorectal cancer that has come back or did not fully respond after initial chemotherapy

  Adverse Effects

  Foiri can cause a range of side effects. Here are the common ones:

  • Feeling very tired or weak

  • Nausea (upset stomach), vomiting, loss of appetite

  • Diarrhea, stomach pain, mouth sores

  • Hair loss, fever

  • Drop in blood counts (like red cells, white cells, or platelets), which can lead to anemia, infections, or bruising/bleeding more easily
