Leuconamo contains Cladribine, which is a type of chemotherapy and immunosuppressive medicine. It belongs to a group called purine nucleoside analogues. It works by affecting the DNA of cells, especially immune cells and some cancer cells.
Mechanism
Cladribine gets inside cells and changes into its active form. This active drug gets built into the DNA of cells, which damages them and stops them from dividing. It mainly reduces the number of certain white blood cells (lymphocytes), which helps in conditions like cancer and multiple sclerosis.
