Fempro contains Letrozole, which is a type of hormone (endocrine) therapy used in cancer. It belongs to the group called aromatase inhibitors. It is mostly used in women after menopause for hormone-sensitive breast cancer.

Mechanism
Letrozole blocks an enzyme called aromatase. This enzyme makes estrogen (a female hormone) in the body. Some breast cancers need estrogen to grow. By lowering estrogen levels, Letrozole helps to slow down or stop the growth of these cancers.

Uses

• Breast cancer in postmenopausal women (hormone receptor–positive type)

• To prevent cancer from coming back after surgery

• To treat cancer that has spread (metastatic breast cancer)

• Sometimes used in fertility treatment (off-label, to induce ovulation in women with PCOS or infertility)

Adverse Effects
Common side effects:

• Hot flashes, sweating

• Joint pain, muscle pain

• Tiredness

• Headache, dizziness

• Nausea

• Bone thinning (osteoporosis, risk of fractures with long use)
