Atazor-R is a combination HIV medicine.
It contains two drugs in one tablet:

• Atazanavir (ATV) – a protease inhibitor

• Ritonavir (RTV) – used to boost the effect of Atazanavir

It is usually taken with other HIV medicines as part of combination therapy.

Mechanism 

• Atazanavir: Blocks the HIV enzyme protease, which the virus needs to cut viral proteins and form new virus particles.

• Ritonavir: Boosts the effect of Atazanavir by slowing its breakdown in the body.

• Together, they stop HIV from making new infectious virus particles, lowering the viral load in the blood.

  Uses

  • Treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and adolescents (always with other HIV medicines).

  • Helps strengthen the immune system and prevent HIV-related complications.

    Adverse Effects 

    Common side effects:

    • Nausea, vomiting

    • Diarrhea, stomach upset

    • Headache

    • Tiredness

    • Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)
