Cetcon is an anti-allergy medicine. It usually contains cetirizine or levocetirizine as the main ingredient. In some combinations (like Cetcon-MK), it also has montelukast. It is commonly prescribed to relieve symptoms of allergies such as sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, skin rashes, and itching.

Mechanism of Action

• Cetirizine / Levocetirizine: These are antihistamines. They block the action of histamine, a natural chemical in the body that causes allergy symptoms.

• Montelukast (if present in combination): Blocks leukotrienes, substances that cause swelling and tightening of airways in allergic conditions and asthma.

  Uses 

  Cetcon is used for:

  • Seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis (sneezing, nasal congestion, watery discharge)

  • Urticaria (hives) and skin allergies causing itching or rash

  • Asthma-related allergies (when combined with montelukast)

  • Relief from eye and throat irritation caused by allergens

    Adverse Effects

    Most people tolerate it well, but possible side effects include:

    • Sleepiness or drowsiness (more with cetirizine, less with levocetirizine)

    • Headache

    • Dry mouth or throat

    • Dizziness or fatigue

    • Nausea or mild stomach upset
