Da Zeagra is a medicine that contains Sildenafil citrate, which is commonly used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It helps men achieve and maintain an erection by improving blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation. Da Zeagra belongs to the class of drugs known as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors.
Mechanism of action:
Sildenafil works by blocking the enzyme PDE5, which normally breaks down a chemical messenger called cGMP. cGMP is responsible for relaxing smooth muscle and increasing blood flow in the penis during sexual arousal. By inhibiting PDE5, Da Zeagra allows cGMP to remain active longer, resulting in better erection quality.
Uses:
-
Treatment of erectile dysfunction in adult men
-
Sometimes used (in other brand forms) for pulmonary arterial hypertension, as it relaxes blood vessels in the lungs and improves exercise capacity
Adverse effects:
Common side effects include headache, flushing, dizziness, nasal congestion, and indigestion. Some patients may experience blurred vision, light sensitivity, or muscle pain. Rare but serious side effects include sudden vision or hearing loss, prolonged or painful erection (priapism), severe drop in blood pressure (especially if taken with nitrates), and heart-related problems in those with pre-existing cardiac conditions.
