Efcure is an antiretroviral medicine, usually containing Efavirenz (sometimes in combination with Tenofovir and Lamivudine or Emtricitabine). It belongs to the class called NNRTIs (Non-nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitors).

Mechanism of Action

Efavirenz blocks the action of the reverse transcriptase enzyme of HIV. This enzyme is needed by the virus to make copies of itself. By stopping this process, Efcure helps reduce the amount of HIV in the body.

Uses

• Used in the treatment of HIV-1 infection as part of combination antiretroviral therapy.

• Helps lower viral load and increase CD4 cell count.

• Reduces the risk of HIV-related complications and improves quality of life.

  Adverse Effects

  Common side effects: dizziness, headache, trouble sleeping, vivid dreams, tiredness, rash, nausea.
  Psychiatric effects: mood changes, anxiety, depression (in some patients).
  Serious but less common: severe rash (Stevens–Johnson syndrome), liver problems, seizures.
