Erbitux contains Cetuximab, which is a targeted cancer medicine. It belongs to a group called monoclonal antibodies. It works by targeting cancer cells that need a protein called EGFR (Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor) to grow.
Mechanism
Cetuximab attaches to EGFR on the surface of cancer cells. This blocks the signals that help the cancer cells grow, divide, and spread. It also helps the immune system recognize and attack the cancer cells.
