HepBest contains tenofovir alafenamide (TAF), an antiviral medicine. It belongs to the class of nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) and is mainly used for chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. Compared to the older form (tenofovir disoproxil fumarate – TDF), TAF works at lower doses and is safer for kidneys and bones.
Mechanism of Action
-
Inside the body, TAF is converted into tenofovir diphosphate.
-
This active form blocks the reverse transcriptase enzyme of HBV.
-
By doing this, it prevents the virus from multiplying and reduces viral load in the liver.
-
It helps slow liver damage and lowers the risk of complications.
Uses
-
Chronic hepatitis B infection in adults and adolescents
-
Helps in reducing liver damage, cirrhosis, and liver cancer risk associated with long-term HBV infection
