-
Intacept contains Etanercept, a biologic medicine.
-
It is an anti-TNF (tumor necrosis factor) drug.
-
It is given by injection under the skin.
Mechanism
-
In many autoimmune diseases (like rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis), the body makes too much TNF-alpha, a substance that causes inflammation and joint damage.
-
Etanercept binds to TNF-alpha and blocks its action.
-
This reduces inflammation, pain, swelling, and joint damage.
