Lenanamo contains Lenalidomide, an immunomodulatory and antineoplastic agent used primarily for the treatment of multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), and certain lymphomas. Lenalidomide helps inhibit cancer cell growth, modulate the immune system, and reduce abnormal blood vessel formation in tumors. It is administered as an oral capsule.

Mechanism of Action

• Lenalidomide has multiple mechanisms:

  • Immunomodulatory: Enhances T-cell and natural killer (NK) cell activity to target cancer cells.

  • Anti-angiogenic: Inhibits new blood vessel formation in tumors, restricting their growth.

  • Direct antineoplastic effect: Induces apoptosis and inhibits proliferation of malignant cells.

• These combined actions slow disease progression and improve patient outcomes in blood cancers.

  Uses

  • Treatment of multiple myeloma (alone or in combination with dexamethasone).

  • Treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) with deletion 5q chromosomal abnormality.

  • Treatment of mantle cell lymphoma and other hematologic malignancies.

  • Maintenance therapy to prevent relapse after stem cell transplant in multiple myeloma.

    Adverse Effects

    • Fatigue, weakness

    • Rash or itching

    • Constipation, diarrhea, or nausea

    • Low blood counts (anemia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia)
