Mitomycin (also called Mitomycin-C) is a chemotherapy medicine.
It is an antitumor antibiotic used to treat different types of cancers.
Mechanism

Inside the body, Mitomycin changes into an active form.

This active form binds to the DNA of cancer cells and cross-links it.

As a result, the cancer cells cannot divide or grow, and they eventually die.
Uses

Cancer of the stomach and pancreas

Cancer of the bladder (can also be given directly into the bladder)

Used in some other cancers (breast, lung, cervix, head & neck) in combination with other chemotherapy

Sometimes used in eye surgery (to prevent scarring after glaucoma surgery)
