Pazib contains Pazopanib, which is a targeted cancer medicine. It belongs to the group called tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). It works by blocking signals that help cancer grow and form blood vessels.
Mechanism
-
Cancer needs new blood vessels to grow and survive.
-
Pazopanib blocks proteins called VEGF receptors and other growth factor receptors.
-
This stops the formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis).
-
As a result, the tumor cannot get enough blood supply, which slows its growth.
Uses
-
Kidney cancer (advanced renal cell carcinoma)
-
Soft tissue sarcoma (a type of cancer of muscles, fat, or other soft tissues)
-
Sometimes used in other cancers as per doctor’s advice.
