Pazib contains Pazopanib, which is a targeted cancer medicine. It belongs to the group called tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). It works by blocking signals that help cancer grow and form blood vessels.

Mechanism 

• Cancer needs new blood vessels to grow and survive.

• Pazopanib blocks proteins called VEGF receptors and other growth factor receptors.

• This stops the formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis).

• As a result, the tumor cannot get enough blood supply, which slows its growth.

  Uses

  • Kidney cancer (advanced renal cell carcinoma)

  • Soft tissue sarcoma (a type of cancer of muscles, fat, or other soft tissues)

  • Sometimes used in other cancers as per doctor’s advice.

    Adverse Effects (Side effects)

    Common side effects:

    • High blood pressure

    • Diarrhea

    • Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite

    • Hair color changes (may turn lighter)

    • Fatigue (tiredness)

    • Weight loss
