Peg Grafeel contains Pegfilgrastim, which is a long-acting form of Filgrastim (G-CSF – Granulocyte Colony Stimulating Factor). It helps the bone marrow make more white blood cells, especially neutrophils.
Mechanism
Pegfilgrastim works by stimulating the bone marrow to produce neutrophils (a type of white blood cell). It lasts longer in the body than regular filgrastim, so it is usually given once per chemotherapy cycle. This helps prevent infections caused by low white blood cells (neutropenia).
