Prolavir-LR is a combination HIV medicine.
It contains three drugs in one tablet:

• Lopinavir (LPV) – a protease inhibitor

• Ritonavir (RTV) – boosts the effect of Lopinavir

• Lamivudine (3TC) – a reverse transcriptase inhibitor

It is used as part of a complete HIV treatment plan.

Mechanism 

• Lopinavir: Blocks the HIV enzyme protease, which the virus needs to make new infectious copies.

• Ritonavir: Slows the breakdown of Lopinavir in the body, so it works better.

• Lamivudine: Blocks the HIV enzyme reverse transcriptase, stopping the virus from copying itself.

• Together, they reduce the amount of HIV in the blood and strengthen the immune system.

  Uses

  • Treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and children (with other HIV medicines).

  • Helps prevent HIV complications and improves immunity.

    Adverse Effects 

    Common side effects:

    • Nausea, vomiting

    • Diarrhea

    • Stomach discomfort

    • Headache

    • Tiredness
