Regonat contains Goserelin, which is a hormonal therapy drug. It belongs to a group called GnRH (Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone) agonists. It is mainly used to reduce sex hormone levels in certain cancers and medical conditions.

Mechanism
Goserelin works by initially stimulating and then suppressing the pituitary gland, which reduces the production of sex hormones:

• In men: lowers testosterone

• In women: lowers estrogen

This decrease in sex hormones helps slow the growth of hormone-sensitive cancers or manage other hormone-related conditions.

Uses

• Prostate cancer in men (hormone-sensitive type)

• Breast cancer in women (hormone receptor-positive)

• Endometriosis (off-label use)

• Uterine fibroids (to shrink fibroids before surgery)

Adverse Effects
Common side effects:

• Hot flashes, sweating

• Headache

• Tiredness

• Mood changes, depression

• Vaginal dryness (in women) or erectile dysfunction (in men)
