Spegra is a combination medicine used to treat HIV infection.
It contains three medicines in one tablet:

• Dolutegravir (DTG)

• Emtricitabine (FTC)

• Tenofovir alafenamide (TAF)

This “single pill” makes HIV treatment easier and more effective.

Mechanism 

• Dolutegravir: Blocks an enzyme called integrase, which the HIV virus uses to insert its genetic material into human cells.

• Emtricitabine & Tenofovir alafenamide: Block another enzyme called reverse transcriptase, which HIV needs to make copies of itself.

• Together, these actions stop HIV from multiplying and reduce the amount of virus in the blood.

  Uses

  • Treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and adolescents (as prescribed by a doctor).

  • Helps strengthen the immune system, reduce HIV-related complications, and improve quality of life.

    Adverse Effects 

    Common side effects:

    • Headache

    • Tiredness

    • Trouble sleeping

    • Nausea, diarrhea

    • Weight gain (sometimes with Dolutegravir)
