Teevir is a combination medicine used to treat HIV infection.
It contains three medicines in one tablet:

• Efavirenz (EFV)

• Emtricitabine (FTC)

• Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF)

This single-tablet therapy makes HIV treatment simpler.

Mechanism 

• Efavirenz: Blocks the HIV enzyme reverse transcriptase (Non-nucleoside type).

• Emtricitabine & Tenofovir: Also block reverse transcriptase (Nucleoside/Nucleotide type).

• Together, they stop the virus from making new copies of itself.

• This lowers the amount of HIV in the blood and strengthens the immune system.

    Adverse Effects 

    Common side effects:

    • Dizziness, headache

    • Trouble sleeping, strange dreams (from Efavirenz)

    • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea

    • Rash

    • Feeling tired
