Tenvir-EM is a combination HIV medicine.
It contains two drugs in one tablet:

• Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF)

• Emtricitabine (FTC)

It is usually used along with another HIV medicine to form a complete treatment regimen.

Mechanism 

• Both Tenofovir and Emtricitabine block the HIV enzyme reverse transcriptase, which the virus needs to make copies of itself.

• This stops the virus from multiplying.

• As a result, HIV levels in the blood go down, and the immune system becomes stronger.

  Uses

  • Treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and adolescents (always combined with other HIV medicines).

  • Sometimes used for HIV prevention (PrEP – pre-exposure prophylaxis) in people at high risk, as prescribed by a doctor.

    Adverse Effects 

    Common side effects:

    • Headache

    • Nausea, stomach upset

    • Tiredness

    • Diarrhea
