Udibase contains Ursodeoxycholic Acid (UDCA), a naturally occurring bile acid used to dissolve cholesterol gallstones and improve liver function in various liver disorders. It helps protect liver cells from damage and enhances the flow of bile from the liver, making it useful in conditions such as primary biliary cirrhosis, fatty liver, and cholestatic liver diseases.

Mechanism of Action:
Ursodeoxycholic Acid works by reducing the cholesterol content of bile and bile stones. It does this by:

• Decreasing cholesterol secretion from the liver.

• Dispersing cholesterol into micelles, helping dissolve gallstones.

• Protecting liver cells (hepatocytes) from toxic bile acids and improving bile flow.

• Stabilizing cell membranes and reducing inflammation in liver tissues.

  Uses:

  • Dissolution of cholesterol gallstones in patients with functioning gallbladders

  • Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and chronic cholestatic liver diseases

  • Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and drug-induced liver injury

  • Improvement of bile flow in cholestasis-related conditions

  Adverse Effects:
  Udibase is generally well tolerated, but some patients may experience:

  • Mild diarrhea or constipation

  • Nausea, vomiting, or abdominal discomfort

  • Itching (pruritus)

  • Headache or dizziness (rare)

  • Transient elevation in liver enzymes (occasionally)
